Opportunity MAPS™

Opportunity MAPS is an ethnographically based way of looking at a location’s trading area and improving sales by generating strategies and tactics that resonate with the people in that area – rationally, emotionally and most important, culturally.

We actually start with one simple rule: we refuse to make assumptions and judgments about an area. In other words, we don’t start with hypotheses. When you start with a hypothesis, it’s harder to see a different pattern.  If you don’t see new patterns, you can’t create new ideas. It’s as simple as that.

We gather lots of data about the area and the people who live and work there. Once we’ve gathered everything we need, we apply a multitude of analytical tools to help us uncover meaning and identify patterns, letting the need drive the tool. But no matter what the tool, our goal is to uncover new patterns that we can share with our design teams.

The end result of this process is a Marketing and Promotion Strategy plan that, depending on your need, delivers ideas, strategies and/or tactics that resonate with a specific geographic target.

Every person is unique, and so is every purchase path. And it’s not always obvious or logical. We help you gain a clear understanding of each shopper’s path. Then we uncover insights that turn shoppers into buyers.

From those insights we develop wave-making ideas across all relevant marketing and advertising disciplines that connect at key touchpoints. Then we execute those ideas efficiently and effectively: from traditional to digital, outside the store and in-store, our ideas get people to ACT.
